DIY Recipe For Bath Bombs

Recipe image credit: thecentsableshoppin.com

Ingredients

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup citric acid
  • 1/2 cup Epsom salt
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • a sprinkle of coloring pigment powder Optional
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons almond oil or melted coconut oil
  • 3/4 tablespoon water
  • 12-15 drops of your favorite essential oil(s)
  • bath bomb molds or any other kind of mold

Instructions

  1. With a whisk, mix all of the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. If you are using color, this is when you would add it. Add your color sparingly until you get the desired look.

  2. In a separate small bowl, mix together all the wet ingredients.

  3. Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients - with emphasis on "slowly." If you go too fast, you will activate the citric acid, which means your batch will be ruined and you will need to start again. Mix until everything is combined and your ingredients look like wet sand.

  4. Fill your molds, packing the mixture until it's overflowing.

  5. If you are using half circle molds, press the halves together firmly. Let the filled molds sit for a minute.

  6. Tap the mold lightly, and gently remove them from the bath bombs.

  7. Allow your bath bombs to dry for 24 hours before packaging.

Recipe Notes

Using bath molds are certainly the most popular but you can use whatever kind of molds your heart desires.

An adorable idea is to use molds that match your baby shower. For example, if you are having a "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" shower, you could use the star molds. If you are having a casual dessert shower, your bath bombs could be donut shaped bath bombs.
