When people are going to baby showers, they are expecting baby shower punch. It’s a tradition that’s as old as baby showers itself.
Some people serve pink punch at baby girl showers; some serve blue punch for boy showers, and others serve whatever tastes good. The sky is truly the limit on what you can serve. There are so many ideas and even more variations to choose from.
Traditionally, beverages served at a baby shower are non-alcoholic because the mom-to-be cannot drink alcohol.
While mom-to-be still cannot drink alcohol, traditions about drinking alcohol at a baby shower have changed a bit.
Nowadays, it is not uncommon to have cocktails and alcoholic punch served at a late afternoon or evening baby shower. Tons of people are now also choosing to have coed baby showers, which is another reason why alcoholic beverages have become more popular at baby showers.
If you are hosting a baby shower and you feel unsure – check with the mom-to-be. If she is okay with others drinking alcohol, feel free to serve it.
For your convenience, we’ve included the most popular mocktails and cocktails.

7 Tips For Serving Drinks at Your Party/ Baby Shower
I thought it was important to include the following tips, which will apply to the baby shower you are hosting, or any party.
- Make it simple. There is no need to overwhelm yourself. Yes, we have given you tons of choices here but choose one, possibly 2.
- Plan slowly. Don’t stuff weeks worth of party planning into the day of the baby shower. You will be severely stressed out and you won’t enjoy the party. Use a baby shower planner to pace yourself.
- Plan ahead. Do as much as you can ahead of time so that you don’t have your hands full with things that could have been done before.
- Preparation is important but… don’t make your refreshments too far in advance. If your baby shower punch needs fizz, do not add the fizzy part until the guests have arrived and ready to drink. If you add it too early, there’ll be no fizz left in the drink.
- Stick with the tried and tested. Do not try out a new recipe on the day of the baby shower. Pick your drink(s) ahead of time and test them before the party.
- Consider buffet style, for drinks. Buffets are always easier, even for drinks. Have your fancy pitcher(s) or punch bowl(s) ready on a table, along with party glasses, cocktail napkins, and garnishes. If you like, prepare a few drinks so that guests can see what it’s supposed to look like but the idea is to make it easy for yourself.
- Be prepared for anything. If your baby shower punch is delicious, you may run out. Be prepared for this by having the supplies you need to make another batch, or two.
